Ellen Sara, the London based singer-songwriter and the fresh face of country/pop music, is making her mark with the release of her new single 'Hate You.' Drawing inspiration from icons like Taylor Swift, Kelsea Ballerini, Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves, Maddie and Tae, Ellen describes ‘Hate You’ as “a fun take on self deprecation, and post break-up rage”.
At just 21 years old, Ellen's authentic and relatable songwriting style has earned her an ever-growing fanbase; resulting in over 50,000 streams on Spotify so far, a testament to her undeniable talent and resonance with listeners.
Not only does she write all her songs but also produces them; often in the cosy confines of her bedroom studio. “The verses are basically lists of things I don’t like about myself and then the chorus flips around and emphasises about how I dislike the subject of the song even more than that.” Ellen shares, giving us an insight to the background of the release.
Amidst her ever-growing success, Ellen has also received recognition from renowned platforms such as Amazing Radio USA, Amazing Radio Chill and Spotify Editorial 'Fresh
Finds Country'. The rising star was also supported by Apple Music’s Radio Show as their UK Artist Spotlight Feature.
The song encapsulates the emotional complexities of love and relationships, set to a backdrop of irresistibly catchy melodies. It is a musical journey that anyone who's ever navigated the turbulent waters of the heart can relate to. “I came up with the line ‘I hate myself but I hate you more’ first, and then the rest of the song formed around that concept” explains Ellen, “I think it's a very relatable feeling of unserious female rage, especially post breakup.”
With plans to release an EP in 2024, Ellen Sara's rise in the music world continues to be a testament to her dedication and undeniable talent. With her heartfelt music and emotionally charged lyrics, she is on a trajectory toward greatness.
